Gateway to Imagination: A National Juried Art Competition

This annual national juried art competition will be held at the Farmington Museum at Gateway Park:

Submissions for the competition must be received by the Farmington Museum by Friday, March 14, 2008.

About the Juror
Mindy Besaw is the Curator for the Whitney Gallery of Western Art at the Buffalo Bill Historical Center in Cody, WY. She received her Bachelors Degree in Art History from the University of Illinois, Champaign-Urbana, IL and her masters in Art History from the University of Denver, CO. Her professional experience includes Adjunct Instructor in Art History at University of Denver and Curatorial Assistant at the Institute of Western American Art at the Denver Art Museum. Ms. Besaw has juried several art shows and exhibitions and has given many lectures revolving around Art History and the West including "A Day in the Life of a Curatorial Assistant at the Denver Art Museum." She delivered a paper titled "Tony Foster: Grand Canyon Revisited" at the Southwestern Art History converence in Taos, NM in 2005. The compilation of Ms. Besaw's experience and education highly qualifies her to judge a wide variety of mediums and topics that are not just associated with western art.

Entry fee
The competition has an entry fee of $25 total for a maximum of two slides or digital files.

Artists and Works Eligible
All types of media will be considered, and no theme is required. Open to all artists 18 years or older residing in the United States. The artwork must have been completed after January 1, 2006 and cannot have been shown in any other City of Farmington juried shows. entries must be artists original work. There will be a 25% commission charged on works sold during the exhibition.
