Museum Volunteer & Docent Program Open Volunteer Orientation

        Learn more about the Farmington Museum.  Volunteer! Opportunity awaits those who enjoy improving their community.  Museum volunteers assist curatorial staff with cataloguing new acquisitions, researching family histories, designing new exhibits and exhibit guidebooks.  Volunteers help education staff research exhibits, develop new tours, activities, design instructional guidebooks and conduct educational programs for all ages.

Those who enjoy meeting, greeting and visiting with people will like assisting visitors at the information desk and in the exhibits gallery.  If shopping is a pleasure, volunteers can help with merchandising, marketing and product development for three museum stores.  Outdoor opportunities include gardening in the xeriscape demonstration garden, or guiding visitors and school groups at the Riverside Nature Center in Animas Park.

There are four museum facilities where volunteers can work directly with the public:  Farmington Museum & Visitors Center at Gateway Park, E3 Children's Museum & Science Center, Riverside Nature Center and Harvest Grove Farm & Orchards.

        Volunteers may also help by serving on the following advisory committees:  Renaissance Faire, E3 Children's Museum & Science Center, Haunted Wood, National Art Shows and Harvest Grove Farm & Orchards. Yearly events which require volunteers include Totah Festival Indian Market, Renaissance Faire, Haunted Wood, Riverfest, Early Days Engine & Tractor Association Show, Annual Museum Rug Auction and Freedom Days Ice Cream Social.
