From Dinosaurs
to Drill Bits:
The
San Juan Basin Oil & Gas Experience

Museum staff is in the
final stages of planning for Phase 1 of From Dinosaurs to
Drill Bits. This exhibit will focus on the latest science
and technology used in the oil and gas industry and explore
the impact of the oil and gas booms on Farmington and the
Four Corners region.
Phase 1 of the exhibit will include a 1500
square foot exhibit space featuring interactive computer-based
exhibits and a Geovator, which simulates a ride down an oil
well. The museum is working with the Houston Museum
of Natural Science to construct the Geovator. Phase
2 should be completed within 5 years.
Gateway National Juried
Art Show
May
22 - July 24 2004
The Gateway National Juried Art Show will be judged by Christopher Cook. Cook, is the Curator at the Sioux City Art Center in Sioux City, Iowa, where he has organized many exhibitions focusing on contemporary art in the Greater Midwest. He holds a B.A. in Art History, Theory, and Criticism from the Art Institute of Chicago, Illinois and a B. A. in Art History from the University of Florida, Gainesville. His area of specialization is Post-war American Art. He has held internships at the Art Institute of Chicago and the Chinati Foundation in Marfa, Texas. He is currently developing an exhibition with Brooklyn based artist Amy Jenkins.
